It argues for a close and mutually supportive relationship between the two communities, which unravelled during the war itself mainly due to rivalries between Diponegoro and his principal religious adviser, Kiai Mojo (ca.1792-1849), who had his own ambitions to extend his sphere of influence in the Pajang/Surakarta area.
